Movie Review- Mubarakan by Suhel Johar

Image
Mubarakan Is A Cliched Comedy Caper.   Mubarakan is yet another no brainer comedy caper from the Anees Bazmee stable, that comes attached with a standard dose of slapstick humour, loud characters, ear splitting background music, silly lines, peppy music and yes, a big fat wedding at the climax. In short, the film continues on the lines of Anees Bazmee’s earlier comedies such as No Entry, Welcome, Singh Is Kinng, No Problem, Ready , and Welcome Back . The signature slapstick humour of this film, however, is not one that will keep you glued to your seat or have you in splits. Twin brothers Karan and Charan (both played by Arjun Kapoor) are adopted by their paternal aunt Jeeto (Ratna Pathak Shah) and paternal uncle Baldev (Pavan Malhotra) respectively after their parents die in a car crash. While Karan grows up in London to be a suave and stylish young man, Charan grows up in Chandigarh as a shy and introverted boy. Kartar Singh (Anil Kapoor) their other uncle gets involved i

Movie Review - Indu Sarkar by Suhel Johar

Image
Indu Sarkar Is An Inconsistent And Inconsequential Political Potboiler   Indu Sarkar , co-written, co-produced and directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, had attracted a lot of publicity and controversy before the release. The film inspired from real events is Indian political thriller film based against the backdrop of the Emergency period. The film would have been unparalleled if the events were shown in true light with close analysis and consequences. But what it has done is present a fairly unbalanced account of the 19 months of Emergency between years 1975-77 in hurried montages. Indu Sarkar opens with the announcement of the Emergency blaring from radio sets and glaring on front pages of newspapers. It then takes us to a fictitious village in Delhi-Haryana border area, Mubipura, where people are gearing up for a wedding. Suddenly, cops reach the place looking for men to be sterilized. When the men try to hide, the cops hunt them down and drag them even as a 70-year-old and

Reportedly, Kareena and Saif, have booked themselves a suite in the Royal Gstaad Palace (in South West Switzerland) for their two-week stay. A year before they got married, Kareena and Saif went on their first international holiday and guess where? Switzerland. The couple have been going to the Swiss Alps every year since then. Movie Review - Lipstick Under My Burkha by Suhel Johar

Image
Lipstick Under My Burkha Is Bold And Beautiful Alankrita Shrivastava's Lipstick Under My Burkha promised to be stereotype-defying, genre-smashing, and nothing short of revolutionary. The whole country rallied behind it when it almost got banned from a theatrical release. But, was all that worth it? Well, it may not exactly be revolutionary, but it definitely was worth the wait. Alankrita Srivastava’s Lipstick Under My Burkha is a story of four women from a small Indian city (Bhopal), stuck at different stages of life, struggling to snatch away a little slice of their own freedom. The four women have been living dual lives exploring their hidden desires of independence, love, sexuality, and passion. Movie Review - Munna Michael by Suhel Johar

Image
Munna Michael Is A Run Of The Mill Potboiler.   Michael Jackson has been a great inspiration for the present-day artistes. Tiger Shroff is one of them who have never shied away from speaking about his love for the deceased star. Hence, casting him in a film that pays a tribute to Jackson seems definitely ideal. After Heropanti and Baaghi , actor Tiger Shroff and director Sabbir Khan have collaborated for the third time for Munna Michael .   Munna Michael tells the story of a Michael Jackson fan from the streets of Mumbai whose life changes when he meets a beautiful, charming girl and a Delhi goon. Munna (Tiger Shroff) has always been a fan of MJ. He also doesn’t take it lying down when people try to be over smart and has no qualms in breaking their bones. During one such action adventure, he comes in contact with a ruthless gangster from Delhi, Mahinder (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). When Mahinder realizes that Munna is a born dancer, he asks him to train him and help him become

Ranaut was shooting for an intense sword-fighting sequence with co-star Nihar Pandya, when the latter's sword hit her forehead and the shoot of the film turned into a bloodbath late Wednesday evening, after the actor was severely injured and had to undergo 15 stitches on her forehead at Apollo hospital, Hyderabad. The Power of Being Kangana Ranaut: Repentant Saif, Karan and Varun Apologise To The Queen After Joke Backfires. - Suhel Johar

Image
It was a shocking and sad moment during the recently-concluded IIFA 2017, when Saif Ali Khan, Karan Johar and Varun Dhawan ganged up to take digs at a woman who was absent. The trio were at their juvenile worst when they attempted to crack a joke at the expense of one of the most vocal and opinionated actors in the industry: Kangana Ranaut. Only, they didn’t realise the joke was on them. The three privileged men with enviable pedigree in Bollywood, took digs at a self-made woman actor for speaking out against nepotism, which still makes or breaks the careers of many in Bollywood. Saif Ali Khan, son of actor Sharmila Tagore, Karan Johar, son of Dharma Productions' founder Yash Johar, and Varun Dhawan, son of director David Dhawan, came together in admitting that the issue, which was raised by Kangana Ranaut on Karan’s television show   Koffee With Karan, was alive and kicking. When Varun went on the stage to collect his award for the Best Actor In A Comic Role
