Teen Kabootar Song Uses Natural Sounds, Mouth and Body Percussions by Suhel Johar.
After Kaavaan
Kaavaan and Meer-E-Kaarwan, the makers of Farhan Akhtar's Lucknow Central took to Twitter to release a teaser of the new song
Teen Kabootar.
Farhan wrote on Twitter while sharing the song. "Teen
Kabootar ki guttar gu ho chuki hai ab shuru," The song’s mood is simple,
fun, and in Farhan Akhtar’s own words it is full of ‘matargashti’.
Teen Kabootar is
a zestful song rendered by Mohit Chauhan and Divya Kumar. Composed by Arjunna
Harjaie and penned by Kumaar, this one’s a happy yet unconventional party song.
But the most interesting part of the song is that
the composer has not used any musical instrument except for a guitar in the
composition of the song, since he created rhythms through body percussion and natural
sounds from various equipment found in jails like brooms, bins, pots, pans and
combs etc. Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain’s percussionist younger brother Taufiq
Qureshi has rendered the percussion sound .
Qureshi has reportedly used different layering of
voices to render sounds like "gutar-gu" made by pigeons for the song.
He has previously used mouth percussion in songs like 'Havan Karenge' in
Akhtar's 2013 film, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and the title track of Dhoom 2, reports
Mirror.
Choreographed by Bosco, Teen Kabootar, features Kishan Mohan along with characters played
by Gippy Grewal, Deepak Dobriyal, Rajesh Sharma and Inam Ul Haque. Ronit Roy,
who plays the antagonist, also features briefly in the song.
Lucknow
Central is a prison movie that documents the journey of
Kishen (Farhan Akhtar) and how he lives his time in jail as he waits for his
trial. As he waits, he befriends Gayatri Kashyap (Diana Penty), an NGO worker
who wants to form bands in the prison so that they can all compete. Kishen then
happens to befriend four other inmates Dikkat Ansari, Victor Chattopahdyay,
Purushottam Pandit and Parminder Trehan and the five of them form a band.
From the trailer we know that qaidi no 1821 is not
only pursuing his musical aspirations but also devising a plan for the great
escape. Kishan and his team of band members are working towards their own show
inside the jail - during which they plan to make their escape. Teen Kabootar appears to be an audition
of sorts from the band members, who will either be permitted for the
penultimate performance or will have to head back to their cells. The lyrics of
Teen Kabootar are suggestive enough
that the band members are rejoicing their anticipated freedom and brushing up
their plan in the form of a song.
Directed by Ranjit Tiwari and produced by Viacom18
Motion Pictures and Emmay Entertainment, the film is slated to release on 15
September 2017.
