Kaalakaandi is a dark comedy thriller about life, death and karma. Featuring Saif Ali Khan in the lead role Kaalakaandi shows the city of Mumbai with underworld goons, doomed bankers and idealistic lovers all closely knitted to each other. The film,  written and directed by debutant Akshat Verma (the writer of Delhi Belly), is played out in 12 hours, with six characters from different worlds, from urban, ambitious upwardly mobile Mumbai and its dark, neglected under-belly.

Mukkabaaz

Mukkabaaz is a beautiful love story of a boxer and deals with social and political elements. In the city of Bareilly (UP), a low caste boxer Shravan, slogs day and night to achieve his dream of being a recognised boxer. Things go awry when he falls in love with a high caste, mute girl Sunaina who happens to be the niece of his arch nemesis, the head of the state boxing federation, Bhagwandas Mishra. Shravan falls for Mishra's niece . Mishra does not approve of this match. Shravan strives to win Sunaina's hand in marriage and become a successful boxer while trying to avoid retaliation from Mishra.

Union Leader

Union Leader is all about Jay who is resigned to his fate as a worker in a notoriously shoddy chemical plant, Jay wants little more than for his wife and son to escape their life of poverty but soon he realizes that he must not only find a way to support his family, but also overcome grave social and legal injustice in the system. The film's original title was Kamdar Union which was changed to Union Leader during the post production. The film has won Best Film in The Best Of Fest Category 2017 award at the 10th Colombia George International (Angaelica) Film Festival, USA

Padmavat
Releases in cinemas on the 25th of January

 
After facing several roadblocks in the form of of protests and heated debates, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's controversial film Padmavati, retitled Padmavat, is scheduled for a January 25 release. The film, mired in controversy over its plot line, has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a 'U/A' rating. The film was earlier scheduled to be released on December 1 and with its new release date the film will clash with Akshay Kumar starrer Pad Man. With two big films releasing on the same date the makers of Manoj Bajpayee-starrer Aiyaary, earlier slated to be release on January 26, have decided to postpone its release to February 9.

Pad Man

Pad Man is based on the life of Coimbatore based Arunachalam Muruganantham, a normal man who found a way to make affordable sanitary napkins for women in his village. Written and directed by R Balki, the movie is based on a chapter from Twinkle’s book The Legend Of Lakshmi Prasad.
