Salman Beats Akshay, Hrithik To Head List Of Bollywood's Highest Advance Tax Payers.
 
There is no denying the fact that Salman Khan rules Bollywood. The actor, who has been part of films that managed to set the cash registers ringing at the box office in 2016, proves his supremacy once again.

Salman Khan has beaten his contemporaries, including Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan, to become the highest advance taxpayer for the financial year 2016-17.

Salman Khan, whose blockbuster hit Sultan (2016) earned over Rs 500 crore worldwide, has paid tax of Rs 44.5 crore. Given that the amount he paid in the last fiscal year was Rs 32.2 crore, Khan's annual income, is estimated, to have grown over 39 per cent in the current year.

Inching close to this figure with an amount of Rs 29 crore as advance tax is Akshay Kumar, who has had hits like Rustom and Jolly LLB 2 to his name in the past one year. Incidentally, Akshay paid an advance tax of Rs 29.5 crore in this fiscal, compared to Rs 30 crore in the last fiscal, which indicates a negative growth in his income.

On the third position is Hrithik Roshan, with an annual advance tax figure of Rs 25.5 crore. In the last financial year, Hrithik had paid a total advance tax of Rs 14 crore i.e. jump of 74 per cent in one year.

Next to feature in the top 10 tax payers list is Comedian-turned-Actor Kapil Sharma. In fact, Kapil Sharma has surprised the IT department this fiscal, by paying an advance tax of Rs 23.9 crore, compared to only Rs 7 crore in the last fiscal. By doing so Kapil has reported an income hike of 206 per cent in one year.

Ranbir Kapoor follows Kapil in the top 10 list. . Despite his box-office hit film, "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil", Ranbir has witnessed a dip in his personal income this year. He paid a total advance tax of Rs 16.5 crore in this fiscal, as compared to Rs 22.3 crore paid in the last financial year, a downfall of 27 per cent.

Aamir Khan follows Ranbir Kapoor in the highest tax payers’ list. Aamir Khan paid Rs 14 crore as advance tax. The income tax department is surprised with Aamir's low figures, despite his film Dangal making "a profit of Rs 140 crore on the box-office."

Karan Johar is the only director in top ten highest income tax payers in Bollywood. After Kapil Sharma, Karan's personal income has sky-rocketed by almost 473 per cent in this financial year. In year 2016-17, Karan paid a total advance tax of Rs 11.7 crore, whereas, in the last fiscal, he paid a total advance tax of only Rs 2 crore.

Amongst the actresses, Deepika Padukone is way ahead of Alia Bhatt and Kareen Kapoor. While Deepika paid Rs 10 crore as advance tax, Alia paid Rs 4.3 crore and Kareena just about Rs 3.9 crore. Interestingly, Kareena Kapoor Khan's personal income dropped almost 44 per cent, in this fiscal. She paid an advance tax of Rs 3.9 crore in year 2016-17, compared to Rs 7 crore in the last fiscal.
