Abhishek, The Little Known Film Of Farha Khan. – Suhel Johar


 
The film journey has been a long one for Farha Khan. From a very popular break dancer in India she became a background dancer in films like Kahan Kahan Se Guzar Gaya, Jalwa, Ramsay’s horror film Saamri, another horror film 7 Saal Baad and Sada Suhagan (Hum Hai Naujawan song).

 
In between she also assisted director Shanker Nag in the cult comedy series Malgudy Days. She then became a choreographer in Mansoor Khan’s Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar with the cult track Pehla Nasha. And as they say she never had to look back after Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar and soon became a sought after choreographer.  From being a popular choreographer she rose to become a hit director with films like Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, Tees Maar Khan and Happy New Year.

But very few know that before she started making fleeting appearances in films she was associated with as a choreographer and then playing a lead actress in Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi in 2012 she had made her acting debut long ago in 1987. This film was a video feature film titled Abhishek directed by Pawan Kaul and produced by Nari Hira. The film has Aditya Panscholi in the title role. Also starring in the film were Archana Puran Singh, Dhan Dhanoa, Jeet Upendra, Neetu Puri, Nitesh Bharadwaj.

Ladies Sangeet Is A Hard-Hitting Story Filled With Compassion, Sympathy And Trauma.   It was after quite some time that I got to go to Prithvi Theatre at Juhu, Mumbai. Blast From The Past - Arshad Warsi and Sajid Khan Were Background Dancers In A Jeetendra-Kimi Katkar Song by Suhel Johar

  Many are aware of the fact that before making it big as an actor, Arshad Warsi was a choreographer but not many know that he was a background dancer to Jeetendra and Kimi Katkar in this 1989 action film, Aag Se Khelenge . In fact, not just Arshad Warsi, the song, Help Me from Aag Se Khelenge, also featured director/host Sajid Khan, choreographer Longinus Fernandes aka Longi and DJ Akbar Sami. Music for the song was composed by RD Burman and it was written by Anand Bakshi. Its not easy to recognise Arshad Warsi and Sajid Khan in this song which was choreographed by Chinni Prakash. Incidentally, it was Sajid Khan, who when he joined Twitter, had shared the video with his followers and had explained about it.
