Dangal Mania Grips China; Crosses Rs 300 Crore Mark On 9th Day by Suhel Johar

Dangal has taken Chinese box office by storm. The collection of Aamir Khan's Dangal crossed Rs. 300 crore mark at the China box office on its 9th day. With this, the movie has become the second Indian film to surpass Rs. 1000 crore mark after Baahubali 2.

Released in 9,000 screens on May 5, Dangal made record breaking collection at the China box office in its opening week. When everyone thought its dream run might slow down in the second week, the movie surprised by faring better on its second Friday than its opening day. Its performance on the second Saturday in China left the trade analysts and pundits of Bollywood stunned.
Dangal showed 119 percent growth and collected $13.66 million (Rs. 87.66 crore) at the China box office on its second Saturday. It is the highest single day collection for any Indian film in the country. Is sensational on Sat... Grosses an unimaginable $ 13.66 million [₹ 87.66 cr] in a *single* day..."

Despite some reluctance from Wanda cinemas – China's biggest cinema chain – in screening the film in most of its theatres, Dangal remains unstoppable. On its first day itself, Dangal did a fabulous business of Rs 13.19 crore in China, which is a massive figure for an Indian film at an overseas market. It has become the highest grossing Indian film in the overseas market, breaking the previous record held by Aamir's PK.
Dangal collected $11.30 million (Rs. 72.68 crore) at the China box office in its opening weekend and raked in $19.87 million on its second Friday and Saturday. This is a clear proof for how word of mouth can multiply the numbers.

The Aamir Khan starrer has not just crossed Rs. 300 crore mark at the China box office, but is also headed to smash the lifetime collection record at Indian box office.  Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted: "Now digest this fact... #Dangal *lifetime biz* in China will be MUCH, MUCH HIGHER than its *lifetime biz* in India [₹ 387.38 cr]... Shocked?"

Released in theatres on December 23, 2016, Dangal collected Rs. 730 crore in India and international markets in its lifetime. Good business at the China box office has helped Aamir Khan's Dangal to become the second Indian movie to enter the Rs.1000 crore club after Baahubali 2. Dangal's gross total now stands at Rs. 1,031 crore.

Baahubali 2 and Dangal are high on desi flavour and have struck a chord with audience in various international markets. This stupendous response is an eye-opener for many Indian filmmakers, who feel only metro-centric movies will make it big in the international arena.

Baahubali 2 and Dangal have collected Rs. 250+ crore and Rs. 400+ crore at the overseas box office so far and the films' success in the international markets is an eye-opener for Indian filmmakers.

It now remains to be seen if Dangal manages to break Baahubali 2 box office records at the global market. The way it’s going there is all the possibility that Dangal may break Baahubali 2 record at global market.
