Thugs of Hindostan Finally Gets A Female Lead In The Form Of Fatima Sana Sheikh by Suhel Johar

Ever since Yash Raj Films announced Thugs of Hindostan last year with an explosive star cast of Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, there were multiple names thrown up for the leading lady of the film. Starting with Aditya's personal choice Vaani Kapoor a YRF prodigy who has a three-film deal with the production house. She’s earlier been the lead in two YRF films Shuddh Desi Romance and Befikre. However, Aamir wasn’t very convinced and had instead reportedly recommended Alia Bhatt’s name to Adi. There were some other names too that too were considered for the role but none were able to sign on the dotted lines for various reasons.

Finally, YRF head honcho Aditya Chopra and Aamir have been able to zero down on a name, Fatima Sana Sheikh for Thugs of Hindostan. Yes, the Dangal girl, who bagged yet another Aamir Khan film but this time as his lead female protagonist.

Aamir Khan and Aditya Chopra’s difference in opinion when it came to casting the lead actress in this film has made a lot of news. In fact, there were reports which said the impasse on the actress has delayed the shoot of the film.

It was rumoured that the role wasn’t meaty enough because of which actresses like Shraddha Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma and even Deepika Padukone didn’t sign on the dotted lines. However, it has also been reported that the real reason had more to do with the money offered for the role. Once they heard the fee for the film, especially when Aamir was being given his market price and more. The actresses had loved the script as it revolved around the female protagonist taking revenge but the talks fizzled out when they realised that Aditya Chopra wanted them to sign the film almost for free.

Finally, there was a discussion whether Vaani or Fatima suited the role better - the latter was Aamir’s choice and the former Adi’s. Eventually Aamir had his way. Guess Fatima Sana Shaikh bagging Thugs of Hindostan is not just courtesy Aamir Khan but also LOW fee.

We hear Adi wants to make the film as big as SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali franchise. It is supposed to be made on the lines of Johnny Depp’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Reportedly, the schedule of the film had kept delaying since they couldn’t find the perfect fit to complete the star cast. Now that they have Fatima on board, Thugs of Hindostan will start shooting from the 1st of June.

Aamir Khan’s last film Dangal broke almost all the box office records and Amitabh Bachchan’s Pink was also highly acclaimed and a success at the box office. So nothing could be bigger than the two stars coming together for the first time, on the film. Last time YRF collaborated with Aamir Khan and director Vijay Krishna Acharya, we got Dhoom 3. Lets hope that this Diwali 2018 release will be grand as well.
